• Critically ill patients have life-threatening injuries or illnesses that are associated with reduced or exhausted physiological reserves.

This learning package aims to take ICU trainees through the theory of intra-hospital transport – including consequences of transport on the patient, risk of adverse events and a structured approach to patient transport using the ACCEPT approach (Assess, Control, Communicate, Evaluate, Prepare and Package, Transport), complementing practical transport and feedback sessions.

 

The package has combined the CICM IC-10 minimum standards for patient transport, CICM curriculum and the Royal North Shore transport guidelines for ICU.
